Meet the Moonrakers!

Introducing Carmel...

Carmel has always loved singing and sang in choirs wherever she’s lived including Germany and America. She even sang in an Opera at University called ‘The Dragon of Wantley’!

Favourite Shanty Song and Line? ‘Here’s a health to the friendships that we hold so dear’ from ‘Here’s a health to the company’ – “This line sums up how I feel about singing with this lovely group, it’s such a joy!”

Meet the Moonrakers!

This week Miranda Woodhouse...

Born and bred in Dorset, Miranda has lived in various places over the years but couldn't resist the pull of the Westcountry and moved back here a few years ago.

Having sung in a Russian choir for over four years, joining a shanty group seemed like a natural progression!

Favourite shanty or line? "Lyme Bay cats ain't got no tails, they got blown off in the South West gales!"
Favourite thing about being in LBM? "You couldn't meet a nicer group of people, signing together is pure joy."

If you fancy giving a shanty a try, drop us a message!

Meet the Moonrakers!

Introducing Pete Benson...

Brought up in Essex, Pete has always loved singing and performing in productions such as Brigadoon, Robinson Crusoe and Pirates of Penzance.

However, raising a young family and being away for work limited the amount of time Pete could spend singing and performing until he and his wife moved to the South West where he saw a performance of sea shanties at the Marine Theatre and realised how much he’d missed singing with a group. In his words, "Wow, maybe… why not try?"

Pete joined Lyme Bay Moonrakers and loves not only rehearsing for stage performances but also participating in the ‘pop-ups’ on the seafront.

Favourite Shanty? Drunken Sailor!

Favourite thing about being in LBM? "We have a lot of fun and a great time singing."

If you fancy giving a shanty a try, drop us a message!
